Jules Upton started practicing yoga in 2009 and was immediately drawn to the athletic style of Vinyasa yoga. It wasn’t until later that she became enamored with the mind/body benefits of the practice.
While learning to cope with back and knee injuries as well as a chronic illness she slowly developed the knowledge and the ability to find comfort and joy on her mat. Jules completed an alignment-based 200 hour Vinyasa Teacher Training at Sol Yoga Studios La Jolla in 2014.
Jules inspires students to cultivate a connection with their hearts and minds while moving their bodies in a way that is safe and supportive for them – taking rest when they need it and extending an open invitation to take modifications and/or use props.
Her Vinyasa classes are high energy blended with positivity and a dash of woo. She offers some food for thought along with cues that are deeply rooted in biomechanics while still holding space for students to find whatever it is that they’re seeking on their mats.
Her point of view on asana is that it doesn’t matter how deep into a posture you go, what matters is that you connect with how you feel when you arrive.
She is grateful for the many lessons and gifts that the practice of yoga has brought into her life and she looks forward to facilitating the unique journeys of her students.
Jules maintains a current CPR & AED certification and since receiving her 200 hour teaching credential she’s completed over 45 hours of continuing education including breath work & gentle yoga, as well as an 11 hour intermediate anatomy workshop certified by Yoga Alliance. She primarily teaches Vinyasa classes but also offers Hatha, Gentle Yoga and Meditation classes in studio as well as corporate settings.
