This is Alyssa’s fourth year leading a 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training at Sol. She is honored to have the opportunity to be a part of each student’s yoga journey. With a background in Hatha, Anusara, and Vinyasa yoga, she combines elements of multiple lineages for an open-minded and well rounded training.
Michael Fukumura, E- RYT 500 – Advanced Practice, Philosophy in Motion
Michael has been leading workshops and yoga teacher trainings in San Diego for years. His knowledge of yoga extends well beyond the physical practice. He truly lives the life of a yogi. While his steady asana practice is evidence of his dedication on the mat, it’s his spiritual depth that makes him such an inspiration. Through daily meditation and pranayama practices, he maintains a focused, balanced life. During the week, he works full time as a lawyer. On the weekends, he shares his passion for yoga through workshops and trainings in the North County yoga community.
Daniela Kent, E-RYT 500 – Philosophy
Daniela brings an abundance of experience and dedicated study to this training. She took her very first yoga teacher training in college, and has shared her love of yoga with the San Diego community for over 6 years. Daniela has been a part of this YTT from the very beginning. Each year she offers her insights into yoga philosophy through her teaching of Patanjali’s 8 limbed path.
Joel Richey, Physical Therapist – Western Anatomy and Physiology
After decades of running his own Physical Therapy practice and years as a Certified Yoga Teacher, Joel is an expert in the field of human anatomy. He has led the anatomy and physiology section for both 200 hour and 300 hour advanced teacher trainings throughout the San Diego community. This will be his fourth year as part of the Sol Yoga YTT faculty.
Heidi Ng, RYT 200 – Yin Yoga and the art of surrender
Heidi is one of the most experienced Yin Yoga teachers in the San Diego area. From her first role as program assistant for the YTT class of 2013 to her position as a mentor in the proceeding years, she has continued to to be a valued part of the Sol 200 hour training. This year we are honored to have her join the faculty by leading a workshop on the benefits of and biology behind the practice of Yin Yoga. *keep an eye out for her Yin Yoga Teacher Training coming to Sol early next year*
Dana Mitchell, Certified Yoga/SUP Yoga Teacher – Stand Up Paddleboard Yoga
Dana brings her love of the water to Sol’s teacher training. We are happy to include a Stand Up Paddleboard yoga experience in the course curriculum. Most days you can find Dana leading SUP yoga classes through Bliss Paddle Yoga, but she also teaches weekly “land” classes here at Sol. She has traveled the world, from Australia to New Jersey, to lead SUP yoga teacher trainings and is excited to share her passion with the class of 2016.
